Easter trip back to Malaysia and Singapore

Tubbs and I decided to use the Easter holidays this year to make a trip back to Malaysia / Singapore. It was not the usual holiday back to only visit family and friends, but more for getting some wedding preps done as well as familiarizing and spending time with the future-in-laws.

I was also really happy this time to be able to get more acquainted with the future-in-laws. They even went with us to choose our wedding bands. And it was the first time I visited Tubb's home in SG even though we have been together for 6 years+ now. We also got our pre-wedding photo-shoot done, met up with my bridesmaids to sort out their dresses, and got my wedding and evening gown sorted out.

Much time was also spent catching up with friends whom I only get to see only once a year or two. It was the usual shuffle in between of Singapore and Malaysia. But I spent less time in SG this year as compared to the last due to the things that needed to get done, and so the schedule was really packed.

I organised meet-ups for lunch and dinner in one day with different friends just so we get to meet up, in however short an amount of time we had. I was also really happy to see my beloved niece and nephew, they just grow up so fast and time really flies! Also big thanks to my Pal who treated me to yummy seafood at East Coast.

And hehe, I think we acted like "tourists" back there as well, visiting the newly opened Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Shopping and Casino. There was a fee to pay to take a ride to the roof top viewing area with the swimming pool and stuff. But we decided we'll do that end year instead, when we go back again. And if time permits, I'd also like to make a trip to Universal Studios!

And so in that short amount of time and the things we did, I'd say it was quite a fruitful trip! :)

Our 6th Anniversary - of being together. :)

Time surely flies! It felt like just yesteday uni mate Len and I volunteered for the Orientation in 2004 when we spotted Tubby during the registration. He was a lonely "banana" who only spoke english and didn't really mix much with the new group of students when they first came as they mostly conversed in mandarin.

And so the three of us hanged out together heaps, then soon become a crazy bunch when the rest of the students came back and from then they say, the rest is history. We only went official on 6 Dec 2004 and so it's been 6 years (of happiness, joy, ups and downs). This year on 6 Dec 2010, we decided to make this anniversary a little bit more significant as we'll be married by the next one.

It was nothing too elaborate, we both just took a day off to spend time together. Afternoon was pretty much bumming at home and we only went out in the evening for dinner at The Langham Hotel - Melba Restaurant. It was the first time I stepped foot into the Langham Hotel Melbourne. We have heard about it so much especially from Master Chef. The hotel was just beautifully designed and lighted and because it was near Christmas, they had a big christmas tree set up.

Dinner was the famous Melba buffet and boy did they really have a big spread! The highlight for me was the abundant sea of prawns, bugs, crabs and sashimi! I think I ate the moreton bay bugs and prawns the most! They also had a variety of desserts and the running chocolate fondue fountain which I didn't miss as well.

There was also chinese and indian food there and we tried the naan and curries. You can also order anything from the stir-fry section and ask the chef to make the dish to your liking. I don't think I ate much of the main courses, I just kept going back for the seafood. We really stuffed ourselves that night and for once Tubby actually felt he had eaten too much! :p

Victoria Market with Mum and Tubby's Cast Removal

Went with mum to Victoria Market a few weeks ago. She wanted to go down there to shop for gifts and souvenirs for her friends. We probably went down a tad too late and the stalls there started packing up way before the closing time. Apparently they start at 6am in the morning! I really wonder who shops at that time! Why can't they just open and close a bit later? Closing at like 2-3pm in the arvo is just silly as people are still out shopping.

Anyway we decided to make the most of the 1.5 hours we had there. And having not been there for a long time, I was surprised at some of the new things that they had.

On the way back at Melbourne Central, we just couldn't resist taking a quick look at these cute puppies at the Pet Shop. They are of Maltese / Terrier breed mix.

I couldn't resist getting one of the animal socks! They were just too cute! It was two pairs for $10 and we could mix and match. So mum took another long colourful type without any funny design. And I took a cow because somehow it reminded me of Tubby! Haha! :p

Another happy occasion was that Tubby's finally had his cast removed last Monday. His legs really look like "chicken" legs - all thin and scrawny for now. He needs to wear a Cam Walker Boot and learn to walk that leg again. Meantime he's still needs the aid of his crutches as well but as least he can walk on both legs now.

I'm still getting my lazy ass to continue with the wedding blog so I can launch it on time! But just too busy with outings and stuff! :p

It's time we talked a little about Our Wedding. ;)

Everyone feels that their wedding day comes and goes too quickly, thus nowadays I see people posting up their wedding photos very much later or they post again to their Facebook profile to bring back memories of that special event. After all, it is the most important day of your life and it only happens once in a lifetime for most of us. Thus I have decided to start a wedding blog to record down our plans and preparations, and to share with family and friends in the months leading up to our special day.

Our wedding plans/preps kinda started on 3rd April – when we dropped by Little John Memorial Chapel at Tubby’s high school, Scotch College. Of course in the first few months after the proposal, you tend to get all excited and want to quickly start with the planning. We have since booked the chapel, celebrants and photographer, visited a few reception places and did some bridal gown browsing and try-outs.

Since we had about a year and a half from April, Tubby and I realised we can take our time instead of rushing later. The early start also helped as plans are at a halt for the moment since Tubby broke his leg. We both want our wedding to be something special and memorable not only for us, but for everyone who attends too – I promise I ain’t gonna turn out to be a Bridezilla! LOL. :p

Our Wedding will be held in Melbourne on Fri, 21 Oct 2011. There will be another two dinners in both Singapore and Malaysia around Dec / Jan 2012. We also plan to do a pre-wedding photo shoot in Melbourne around Oct / Nov this year and then another one in Malaysia (for the beautiful gowns!) in April next year.

From Today, it's exactly:I plan to launch the wedding blog exactly on the one year countdown to our wedding and so in the meantime, I just want to share a few photos. A couple of weeks ago, mum and I brought my pre-wedding photo shoot gown for alterations at one of the bridal shops near my place:

Mum suggested to take a photo when the seamstress was done with the pinning just so we can compare when alterations are done.
The owner was also really smart to inform that she had a sale on and was clearing stock. This was one of the gowns I tried on - I still need an actual day gown. I'll elaborate more on the wedding blog.

Tubby's Birthday and Malvern Collectibles Fair 2010

This year, Tubby had to spend his birthday with a broken leg in a cast, so I'm sure it'll definitely be one for him to remember! Initially he didn't wanted to celebrate it as he was just feeling really grumpy with his immobillity. But I figured that he needs to go out for some fresh air instead of cooping himself at home all the time and so I planned a last minute dinner at Wah Kee for him and invited a few friends who could make it.

Tubby has liked Thomas the Tank and Friend's Wooden Railway series for awhile now. But being the trifty him, he just didn't want to get himself started on it and so I decided to get them for him as a present. This was the first installment of presents. ;)
He was of course delighted when he saw them and the kid in him came out when he started to take the stuff out to assemble. We were joking and talking about our Rumpus room in future - where there will be a room full of Transformers, Lego and Thomas the Tank. LOL.
They were smart in that a lot of the sets didn't have enough tracks to make a larger and more decent rail road display and so I had to get him another box of the Beginner's Expansion pack with a variety of more tracks so he could come up with this.
Dinner at Wah Kee - Early celebration of his birthday on Sat 14 Aug. Thanks to those who could make it with last minute notice. :) Everyone was digging into the yummy food after waiting and being all hungry already!

Mum and I gave him another surprise on the actual day. Afterall, that was his birthday and exact day he was born! haha! And so we could celebrate with Jasper as well! :p

And these were the presents: new Ralph Lauren Big Pony fragrance. They came in numbers 1 to 4, but they ran out of 3 and 4 smelt really musky. So I took 1 and 2 instead.

Dan bro and I also set up a stall at the Malvern Collectibles Fair last Sunday 22 Aug at the Malvern Town Hall. Boy it was a real tiring and long day as we had to be there by 7.30am and be ready by 9am when the doors open. His friend Casey also shared the stall with us selling Hot Toys figures.

I was really disappointed as I didn't make any sale at all, can you believe it?! Some lady bought a $260 Michael Jackson limited addition Hot Toys figure from Casey and Bro sold a couple of Transformers figures and some of his custom Lego creations, while I got zilch! :( Most of the people were into cheap bargains and the audience weren't quite right. I also felt that the organisers didn't make enough effort to bring more people to the fair too. Boo!

We later decide to merge my foldable table and the table that was provided by the organisers so that people walking by wouldn't miss anything and be attracted to it. But alas, that didn't really make a difference too. :( Anyway we might possibly try the other larger toy fair that's coming up at Sandown next month instead!

I also went to Diana's post birthday celebration - a dinner in city and KTV session after that. I couldn't stay for long as I had to get up real early for the fair above! Didn't have pics with me as all the pics were on D's camera. But we had fun and I really missed singing ktv!

Oh and Mum's also going with me to bring my pre-shoot gown for alterations tomorrow! Hope they don't charge me heaps and I can get it back soon so that Mum can personalise it! :D And that's pretty much the month of August for me!

Chaotic bits and pieces of July and starting of new blogs

Okay July wasn't exactly one of the best months. Actually to say, June and July weren't exactly good months for us at all. First some idiot knocked into the back of my car in mid June and then I had to wait 5 weeks for the parts to arrive from Japan and another 2 weeks before I could send my car in. And now it's finally at the workshop for repairs.

The other major thing was that darling broke his leg while we were having a hit at tennis. We were just having our usual social hit on Tuesdays at Glen Huntly. He was moving to return a shot and the next thing I know, he suddenly just fell down on the court crying out in pain. He felt his ankle dislocate and clipped back, little did we know that he had broken his fibula as well.

Apart from that, life still goes on and there are little things here and there to smile and be happy about. Afterall, life is too short to be sad and full of worries. :D

Say hi to Baby Leo, my colleague Amber's baby boy who's 3 months old now. He's so tiny and you can just bundle him around your arms. She brought him in one day to visit us and he was just snoozing away. I bought him a little storybook teething toy.

Darling Jasper having a fun and happy day at Brighton Beach. It's an off-leash area for dogs that actually leads off to the sea. It was really cold and breezy that day but he couldn't care less and was just enjoying himself running and poking around.

Little furry white monster caught snoozing in the wardrobe again! He just likes to sleep in the wardrobe where my pyjamas and towels are in my Pooh Bear luggage bag. Maybe because it is comfy and soft. Haha...

Darling at Monash Hospital Clayton. We waited about 4 hours that night when he broke his leg just to see the doctor and get his leg plastered up! And also to be disappointingly told that the break was quite major and he had to have an operation and couldn't go home for the night.

Went to watch Mary Poppins Musical with Dan bro and his church friends on 23 July. We had bought the tickets a couple of months ago. This is the outside of Her Majesty's theatre, we were walking there after dinner just up the street.

The view from our seats. We were seated in the upper dress circles and the view was not too bad though we weren't really near the stage. The musical was just fantastical and awesome and I would definitely watch it again if given the chance! :)

And as usual, I couldn't miss getting souvenirs and the program book from the musical. Lucky I could fit a Size 14 Girls "Practically Perfect" Tee in pink - my favourite colour! And the lapel pin is now hanging from my tennis bag! :)
Darling again here at Dandenong Hospital last week. This was the night just after his operation to put screws and metal plates in. It really hurts to see him like that and I really pray for him to recover soon so we can go out and do things together again.

Till then, mum's coming over and arriving this weekend! Can't wait to see her again and to do stuff together! Wedding plans have halted for the moment since Tubby broke his leg. But I am in the midst of creating a wedding blog to capture all our wedding preps and also Dan bro and I are setting up a toy blog where we will be selling toys. Hope to get them out there soon!
