最重要的決定 - My most important decision

我常在想应该再 也找不到
I always wonder that I might never find

任何人像你对 我那么好
someone like you that's so good to me

好到我的家人也被照料
So good that my family members are charmed by you

我的朋友还为你撑腰
and even all my friends support you

你还是有一堆毛病改不掉
You still have some short-comings that you can't change

拗起来气得仙女都跳脚
In a quarrel when you get angry, even the fairies jump anxiously

可是人生完美的事太少
But there are hardly any perfect things in life

我们不能什么都想要
we can't demand for everything

你是我最重要的决定
You are my most important decision

我愿意每天在你身边苏醒
I want to wake up next to you each day

就连吵架也很过瘾不会冷冰
Even quarrels are satisfying; the relationship won't become cold

因为真爱没有输赢只有亲密
because there's no win or loss in true love, only closeness & Intimacy

我愿意打破对未知的恐惧
I'm willing to break the fear of what our future holds

就算流泪也能放晴将心比心
even if I cry, I'll cheer up; looking from your point of view and your heart

因为幸福没有捷径只有经营
Because there is no short-cut to happiness, it's an on-going process

Birthday Celebrations and Wedding Proposal 2010

So much has happened in the past few months and I finally found the time to update on the most significant one. ;p On 23 March this year, on my 2xth birthday, darling finally popped the question. It wasn't entirely the way that I had wanted it to be, but I'll give him some credit for it.

For some funny reason, I had a special feeling even before my birthday this year and decided to declare an earlier start for my birthday celebrations and it proved right as to why I had those feelings. :p So here goes

Fri 19th Mar: Had dinner with tubby and then went to Build-A-Bear workshop and I decided to make an Autumn Teddy Bear and I called her Cinnamon.
Sat 20 Mar: Special 3-Course meal at the Baths Restaurant in Brighton with tubby, James and a couple of his friends and we took a nice relaxing walk by the pier
Tues 23 Mar: Had Japanese lunch, went back to Build-A-Bear workshop and this time made a Rabbit for the coming easter and decided to name her Bailey. Dinner was at Rock Pool restaurant in Crown.
Yummy 3 -course meal at the Baths Restaurant in Brighton. These are some of the entrees and main courses that we chose. Dessert was Bread Pudding, Berries and Cream or Apple Crumble.
Nice relazing stroll along Brighton Beach after our enormous meal. Haha... a shot of James and Darling from the back
Me and darling. :)
Another shot of Brighton Beach with the Pier in the background. And there was this enclosed area where people can swim - called the Brighton Baths - duhh.. :p
Making a wish with my rabbit's heart before she is brought "to life".
Choosing clothing and footwear for Bailey. Boy it took more than an hour for me to decide. Darling was quite patient.
Teddy Cinnamon and Bunny Bailey. :) They even have birth certs!
The delicious and upper class dinner we had at Rock Pool Melbourne. The bill was quite hefty - which darling paid. hehe...
Outside Crown and the Yarra River by night - also where he dropped down on his knees for a brief moment and popped the question properly this time! (First was inside the restaurant. ) :P
A couple shot as we headed home for the night - and a very blissful and beaming me. :D
Hand in hand and ring on finger. :)

Now quite a bit has gone on for our wedding preps since then. We already have the venue and celebrants booked, gone to quite a few bridal shops to tryout gowns (for me!) and attended the recent Bridal Fair by Australian Bridal Service. Will update soon!

Meantime if you're interested, here's the rest of the album:

2009 onto 2010 and when love is stretched to its limits...

How time flies and 2009 just zoomed by in a flash and now here we are at 2010. 2009 wasn't exactly one of the best year for me, let's just say there were more downs than ups, more quarrels, more conflicts, more misunderstandings in both personal and work life. Let's hope for myself and for everyone as well that this year may be a better and a happier one.

Some people say when you a marry a person, you marry his family as well. While some say, "why care about others (in-laws in particular) when the person you're marrying is the only one that matters?" While the latter proves to be the one easier to comprehend, somehow things are easier said than done. Would you give up your perfect other half just because his parents objected to the relationship? One would easily answer no and say "we'll fight for it"... But when your partner turns out to be some softie (though already in the late twenties) who cannot turn a blind eye to his parent's opinion, what would you do then? Would you keep waiting until they finally see the light one day? Or would you think that enough is enough and it's time to walk away?

Christmas shopping and/for coming trip back home...

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I managed to start mine a couple of weeks ago during the weekends and a couple of week nights this week where the shopping centres are finally starting to open late! Chadstone especially is opened from 9am to 10am this Monday to Wednesday and till 12 midnight on Thursday and Friday! They even have free shuttle buses to shuffle shoppers from the nearby tafe! Gosh you should see the crowds at shopping centres when it's near Christmas, it's almost impossible to find a car-park!

Lucky I have already managed to tick off most of the names on my pressie list except a couple more to finish this weekend. And since I have to send my car in for service, we'll be there early and can always leave the car parked at the Kmart parking slot after the service, so it kinda saves us from having to find one. :p

Oh and Tubby and I kinda need to do shopping for our mums as well. I think my mum's got a much longer list than his! lol! Mum's spoilt anyway, she asked for an iPod Nano for Christmas and so she's getting a purple one. :D With that, she's also got quite a few other things that I bought for her over the year as well!

And shucks, this time round during our trip back to Singapore / Malaysia, we also have to attend a few weddings! It's that time of the year isn't it? Everyone seems to be getting hitched! And yeah it's kinda that kind of "age" too I guess! :p

Anyway for my sec school best friend's wedding, I bought a black Audrey Hepburn like dress. Decision was made after the other two besties decided they were going in black as well. :P I guess people aren't so superstitious about black colour these days. I can't believed that it was bought in a jiffy during my 1-hour lunch break last week. I wasn't particularly looking for one that day and just happened to come across it. It's similar to the one pictured except that mine has thinner shoulder straps and is a little shorter.

Then I'll have to get one especially for my brother's wedding as well! Yes, my late thirty-something year old brother (ssshhhh!) has finally tied the knot! He and my sis-in-law solemnized on 6 Dec. How coincidental as that is also the anniversary date for Tubby and I. Anyway their wedding dinner is on the 26th of Dec and so they say when you're out looking for something, somehow you just can't find it! I was out the last few times, tried on countless dresses and I couldn't find one that I like or suited me. :( I guess trying to stay away from black is kinda difficult, but let's hope I get better luck this weekend.

Then there's the wedding of our tennis coach and his wife as well which falls on the 3rd of Jan. We are still debating if we are attending because that's pretty close to the dates that we're going up to KL! Yes, planning a trip up north to visit my chabohs and also dear cousins and my new little "grand nephew"... Excited yet upset about the upcoming trip back, cause we'll be missing Jasper oh so much...

My new toy(gadget) - the Apple iPhone 3GS

Lately, it seems to be all about consoles, gadgets and stuff. LOL :p And the most recent one I've got is the iPhone 3GS in 16GB. When I was offered to renew my contract in March this year, the staff from Optus was asking me, "Are you sure you don't want the iPhone?" Being the super stubborn and "iPhone Hater" at that time, I thought the iPhone was overrated and so chose to go with the LG Renoir instead. I played around with the phone at the Apple store before and didn't really like how the touch screen function and it seemed hard to sms.

But then Tubby got his a couple of months back sometime after his birthday and every now and then I played with it and thought it had some really cool applications and I like how you can access the Internet and browse normal websites anywhere you want. As you know phones are usually restricted to specially designed mobile websites and cannot access most full websites properly, so having Safari was a real plus for me. :p The finger zoom in and out was also pretty innovative.

Apple iPhone 16GB 3GSSince then, I've been jokingly telling Tubby and Bro Dan that, "I want the iPhone!" And so one normal Sunday when we were shopping in Southland, Tubby suddenly asked me if I wanted to go check out with Optus and see what they can suggest about getting the iPhone. Because I just renewed my new plan in March and had another 16 months to go (for a freakin long 24-month contract), I couldn't really do much because terminating it would cost a lot of money. So we had a bright idea, sign a new cheap plan to get the iPhone and upgrade my current plan to the iPhone plan so I can keep my current number. And that's what I just did... :D So you could really say that I have to "suck it up now..." hehe... :P

Apple iPhone 16GB 3GSThere's so many different type of covers and plastic cases on ebay and a whole lot to choose from! Boy do I have a hard time browsing! I just bought one diamante pink one from ebay - all thanks to xiaxue who started the glitter and diamonds stickers on laptops and gadgets. :P

I've been loving my iPhone since I got it and can understand now why it's the most popular phone in the world for now (for now because I heard the new google phone might be the next "In-thing"). But hey no, I'll be staying loyal to my iPhone for a long time. It's like having the computer and portable game console at your finger tips with the functionality of being able to play games, surf the web, check emails and download useful and sometimes "not-so-useful" applications. :D Then you have your iPod and iTunes and even watching videos is easy on YouTube. The messaging facility is also interesting, every sms is like a conversation u have between the person, the message appears in a bubble.

There are just so many different types of applications built for the iPhone. It even acts as a torchlight if you're in the dark! Probably, the only downside is that the battery runs like water and you'll have to charge everyday. But that doesn't bother me as I got the car charger and everyday I have to plug it to iTunes to sync with my new applications and stuff. Overall the Pros definitely outweigh that one Con. So if you're so not into one, you don't know what you're missing out. ;)

Getting our Playstation 3 and Show a bit of love by supporting the RSPCA

I haven't got much to blog about since life has been pretty mundane lately. A week in the life of Mel just revolves around work, tennis/gym, sleep, work and tennis/gym. :S Not to say that I have lost much weight what with the exercise and stuff; the constant temptations of sweet desserts and fast food have been too overpowering. Anyway I hope everyone likes this new change of blog template. I just had the sudden urge to change the template today and went Google-ing for one. Found this one by a lady called Candy who designs blog templates for free. Her link is right at the bottom of the page. I used to create my own templates, but now with the XML versions and stuff, it has become too time-consuming and I'm too lazy. :p

Sony Playstation 3Anyway on to some shopping done lately. Now I was getting pretty bored with my PSP (PlayStation Portable) for awhile since there weren't many new good games coming out. And in terms of hand-held, the DSi wins for me because of the touch screen features, new camera and of course (sssshhhh!) the free games I can download and play on the R4 revolution. :p

And also, although we just bought the xbox 360 in January this year, we (or at least I) haven't been playing much on it as well because there weren't many games of interest and as you'd know one of my favourite pass times is to sing ktv and they only have the LIPS game so far and that didn't satisfy my singing sensation. :D

And so we bundled up our xbox 360 with the controllers, games, wireless mics, Scene-It game and 4 controllers, external hard disc, my PSP, games and a couple of the DS games I had, and brought them all to EB Games for a trade-in a couple of weeks ago . For 13 games, 2 consoles, 2 controllers and all the other bits and pieces, they gave trade-value of $442 in store credit. That's pretty alright I guess for a trade-in although I know those would have sold more on ebay - but it wasn't really worth the hassle. And so we (or Tubbs actually) happily paid extra the $54 for our new PS3 which came with the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Game. The package deal was $496 for the 120Gb one.

I've got to say we've been enjoying our new toy. :D Blu-Ray movies are just awesome! They are so precise and clear and now I'm wishing we've got a bigger full HD TV. We haven't bought many games yet as Tubbs is hooked on his FIFA 10 and other times we're flying dragons with Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. And as usual even that we can scream at each other! LOL. Surfing Internet on the TV with the PS3 is also a different experience! Boy I can't wait to get a proper web cam and I can probably chat to my mum via the TV as well! How cool is that!

RSPCA Car ShadesWell on to the next thing, as you know Christmas is coming and during this period, lots of people like to buy dogs / cats and give to give them off as presents. Pets are for life and should not be given as gifts as all unless the it's really appropriate and the person receiving it will take care and love them for the rest of their lives.
You can help the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) by donating or buying stuff from their online shop in which the proceeds go towards helping the shelter and catering for the animals awaiting adoption.
RSPCA Million Paws Work ladies topI recently bought a pair of RSPCA Car Shades and the Million Paws Walk ladies top from them as they were on sale! Was contemplating whether or not to buy Jasper another toy but didn't in the end because he already has too many! There have lots of stuff not only for pets, but also household items, books, calendars, stationary and more!
So show your support to help out the animals, visit the RSPCA web shop and start shopping! You can even get christmas presents there.

Relationship update and trip to Melbourne Musuem: Pompeii Exhibition and Royal Melbourne Show

My relationship status on face book recently changed from "In a relationship" to "It's complicated" and close friends know why that happened. Let's just say I believe that in every relationship, things need to keep moving forward and on to the next step as years go by and maybe I'm a bit impatient for that to happen. But hey, 5 years isn't a short time and I guess there's quite a bit of the peer pressure in it as well.

Apart from that, our relationship has been going on pretty well. I doubt I can find anyone else who can put up with my "shit" :p and also share so many same interests as me at the same time. It just that sometimes, waiting for something to happen can really strain the mood. Not only that, we haven't really got pass the controlling parents. But I guess if two people really love each other, they've got to try and make it work somehow.

Anyway, on to some happier stuff...

Tubbs and I went to Melbourne Museum for the Pompeii Exhibition. And with that we also got free entry into the other Museum Exhibits:
The Pompeii Exhibition was very informational and we really learn the in-depth story of how people lived and entertained themselves at that time, the cooking utensils, houses, jewellery, Gods that they worshipped, Gladiator fights and stuff, up until the time when Mt. Vesuvius erupted and cover the whole town and also current excavation updates.

The only down side was that day was extremely crowded and we kinda chose the late session (by mistake) which pretty much left us with hardly any other time to finish viewing the other exhibits. There was "A walk with Dinosaurs", "Marine Life", "Mind and Body" and "The Melbourne Story". The next time we go for another event, I certainly want to make it a whole day thing and not go at 2'o clock in the afternoon. :p

Here's the full photo album: A Day in Pompeii & Other Exhibits

Just over the weekend, we went to the Royal Melbourne Show with my cousins Kayla and Yu Ping and her friends. My emergency memberlink card got me some discount on tickets, so it kinda compensate a little for the huge amount spent there. :S
The forecast for the day was really terrible weather with showers and hail. We had to duck in and out of shelter every now and then but we tried not to let that spoil out moods. Entry was about $21 for Adult and $14 for Concession. Games and rides were extra and the games especially were pretty expensive, kinda like $5 and $10 each! The cousins and friends weren't interested in any rides, so we just sat the Ferris Wheel to get a nice view of the whole show.

I think we spent the most on games because those huge soft toys were all so tempting and seemed to be "calling" out to you! Arggh! :p. We played the usual lie ball toss, the shooting water at target game, some silly pull the string game and a make 21 game. The lucky Yu Ping won a big white bear while we got Kayla Scooby-Doo and Tigger. Haha, and Tubby bought Stewie and Baby Tazzy Devil for me from one of the stalls. Nothing much interesting about the showbags as they were mostly for kids and either that or it was chocolates and sweets.

World's Strictest Parents - a TV Show I recommend!

If you're looking for something interesting to watch, you've GOT to check this out:

It's a TV show about Aussie's most rebellious and uncontrollable kids who are sent overseas to live with very strict parents for a week to try and change their bad behaviour. These strict parents try to make sure they do what they are told - or at least they try their very best to "force" the kids to follow their rules - sometimes in the most funniest ways!

And if you haven't guessed it, why am I not surprised Singapore was one of the countries where the aussie kids were sent to live with and boy you've got to watch the episode - I literally burst out laughing! "You must greet us Aunty Ean and Uncle Meng". Yes that's very respect most of us Asians have to do - but just the way they put it to the aussie kids, it was hilarious!

Most of these rebellious kids are school drop-outs, who drink, smoke and party most of the time and some of them we have seen have totally no respect for their own parents at all. It makes us kinda feel that at least us Asian kids still do have a certain level of respect and fear we have of our parents even though we may be stubborn sometimes. Maybe it's the culture that alot of Aussie are not strict enough with their kids. But yeah it's a total shock when these naughty kids start to realise how wonderful their own parents are after they are "dumped" into a World of Rules - it may be a "hard on them" but it's a good lesson learnt in a different way.

Everyday is Valentine's Day if you love the right one. And the ups and downs of Tennis...

Howdy everyone, my "sunshine" is back and thanks to the dear encouragement of my dear girls and cousin, I feel much better regarding the parent issue in the previous post. Anyway hoped everyone had a great Valentine's day both singles and couples as it's not just a day about couples in love, it's also about showing your love to your family and best friends. ;) Darling and I spent the day catching up with each other since he just came back from Singapore the day before. We did some shopping in Southland and then bought food back for a home-cooked candle light dinner.
Valentine's Day Candle Light Dinner - Salmon
Nothing else beats a nice home-cooked dinner prepared by the charming and loving chef, and with the extra touch of the candles in their vintage candle holders which I got as a farewell gift from my previous company.

Valentine's Day Candle Light Dinner - Salmon
And a close-up of the nice pan-fried salmon with capers, broccoli and grilled tomatoes with cheese. Mmmnnn yummy, and even darling Jasper had his royal taster's role fulfilled by having some of the food as well. :D

After that, we rented a movie to watch on Foxtel: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Honestly I much prefer the previous ones, this latest one was just lame. I mean flying saucers and aliens? Whatever happened to the good old ancient artifacts and mythology? Have plot writers just run out of good ideas already? Speaking of which I also watched Bride Wars with a colleague a week ago. That was a chick flick alright but still it was funny and had a good storyline and I especially love the ending that two best friends didn't fall out because their plotting against each other before the wedding. But that plotting actually helped one of them figured out that her husband-to-be really wasn't "the one". Anyway it's one good movie to catch with your girlfriends and you can ogle at the Tiffany ring and Vera Wang gown. :p

On to another topic: Tennis; my favourite sport. As you might know I have been playing since end 2006 and have joined some local comps and stuff in Gippsland. When we first moved down to Melbourne, my ex coach recommended me to a coach he knew at Nottinghill tennis club in Glen Waverley. Now it all started out fine at first (with the coaching I mean). But then because I wasn't "as important" as the wannabe kid star players, the coach kept changing my time slots and then eventually passed me on to his son. Then his son had some emotional problems while moving house and stopped contacting me. I thus had to contact the father again and he fitted me in one of his "precious time slot".

So all seemed fine until the weeks near Christmas when I had to skip a lesson or two as I wanted to spend more time with mum. Mr Coach then got unhappy and said I should just keep my coaching lessons on a casual basis. And I thought to myself. "What a petty and arrogant person!". And so I let the matter rest and thought I'll contact him again in the new year. And guess what? Mr Petty refuses to answer my call or sms. I couldn't be bothered anymore. Tennis may be my love, but that doesn't mean I have to beg someone for it. There are heaps other better coaches out there who are willing to teach whoever wants to excel.

And so darling and I have been looking around for other tennis clubs to join since then. When he bought a new racket for himself over the weekend, we decided to try out the clay courts near our place. I have always only ever played on hard courts and this was my first time in the clay court. Gotta say play in a clay court is certainly much different that in a hard court. The balls are slower and the ball can suddenly change direction depending on how it hits the clay.

Tennis Court - Clay Court
Clay Court - usually made of crushed stone or brick. Cheaper and faster to build but more expensive to maintain as they need to be rolled over to preserve flatness and spray water on it before and after play.

Tennis Court - Hard Court
Hard Court - Basically just hard concrete but more expensive as you have to bring in special concrete to build the courts, but cheaper to maintain.

At the end of the 1 1/2 hour on Valentine's day evening, we decided that was the first and last time we're gonna play on clay courts. No doubt it was also fun, but I wasn't used to it and slide and fell to the floor on my bum once and Darling just stood there laughing at me. :\ But haha that wasn't the main reason; when we finally finished playing, our shoes and outfits were all reddish brown! All the sliding and running for the balls had turned us into dirty, dusty bums. I had to go home and scrub off the stains of our shoes and clothes like hell and figured, "No I wouldn't want to be doing this all the time". :p I just found out about the Hard courts at the Monash Clayton campus today and made an enquiry. So darling's accompanying me for a lesson with the new coach this friday (who happens to be an Asian who's Singaporean, haha). I just hope everything turns out better this time. :)

It's the Lunar New Year, so Gong Xi Fa Cai, but I have some unhappy ramblings

Happy Lunar New Year everyone, it's day 9 of the Lunar New Year, which is also known as "Chu1 Jiu3" in mandarin. This year was a quiet celebration as most of our friends are all back home in Singapore/Malaysia. Darling was supposed to go back on the eve as well, but because the company needed him during the Australian Open, he postponed his flight to a week later. And so as I'm typing now, he's about 7000kms away from me.

My dear chaboh Joewiz's younger brother came down from Leongatha to join us for a mini reunion dinner at aunty's - Wah Kee restaurant in Clayton. There were just four of us including Ammie. It was a small gathering but we ate to our hearts delight, just couldn't be bothered taking photos though. Prior to the dinner in the afternoon, darling and I made our way to Springvale - the vietnamese/chinese area in Melbourne for beef noodles. Being CNY eve that day, there was a carnival going on with lots of rides for kids and stalls selling food. And not to forget Lion Dance - a popular thing during the festive season.
Lion dance during Chinese New Year at Springvale Melbourne Australia

Lion dance during Chinese New Year at Springvale Melbourne Australia

Chinese New Year at Springvale Melbourne Australia
I was pretty happy as I love my "Bak Kua" during CNY and we found a stall selling it. They call them Honey Pork/Beef Jerky over here and boy are they expensive at $2.50 a piece! Yeah they don't go by $ per kg, they go by per piece! In the end I bought 10 pieces just to satisfy my cravings. Of course they naturally didn't taste as good as those back home. :p

Chinese New Year at Springvale Melbourne Australia

Lion dance Chinese New Year at Springvale Melbourne Australia

And that was sort of all of the CNY "celebration" we had. When you're not back in your home country, it just doesn't really feel the same. Mum sent me photos of my brother, sis-in-law, cousins, grand dad, nephews and nieces and updating me all about what was going on with the family back there. And then of course it doesn't fail to get to the point of my parents hinting when are they gonna be grand-parents as they sort of get all jealous about everyone else around them being grandpas and grandmas already, which brings me to the next topic - about why I don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon.

As those who follow my blog would know, the boyfriend's parents and I never got along. Especially after the "show-down" his mum and I had back in Dec 2007, we never communicated since. In short she sort of lectured us like we were a bunch of 10 year olds caught kissing or something and doesn't really want her son to have a girlfriend. Over-possessive or controlling? I won't stoop down to her level to mention the mean things she said. Basically the boyfriend's parents just want their son to achieve well for his future but without a better half - unless of course maybe they want his better half to be one they hand-pick.

4 years of us being in the relationship together, yet they still always talk about matters/plans that revolve around him alone and not around us. It's like somehow they hope that I'm just a passing phase in their son's live and will leave him in the near future. To them, he will always be their little perfect baby son of which no one is good enough for him. From their obvious attitudes and behaviours, the "M" word is out of the question (at least for some time) as they will probably go nuts even hearing it. Is this God's way of testing our love for each other? A perfect relationship - too perfect till there must be some who want to destroy it?

Congratulations to my cousin, my new gadget and Shisha - the first and last time (I think!)

Firstly CONGRATS to my dear cousin kristie (and her hubby James) who gave birth to a baby boy on 1 Aug. Can't wait for her to upload photos of that little prince. :) Really happy for you guys!

Well lots of people around me have been either getting married(one of my besties got married in June, another one later in Dec and the ex BF in Nov), getting pregnant(one poly friend and my colleague at work 4 and 3 months respectively) or giving birth(my cousin) to cute little babies this year and man it sure makes you feel like you should be getting on to that next phase as well. But then again things don't usually work a certain way, it doesn't mean that you MUST settle down and have babies at a certain time because it's the right; there's no point if the feeling and timing isn't right. I remember when I was back in SG in Feb, I went out with a best girl pal and she was single and happy and she said she was sick of all her other friends having talking about applying for houses to get married etc. and funnily in a certain way, I think I would have felt the same.

I mean don't get me wrong, I am happy for the people who are getting married, pregnant and having babies, but I guess it's just not the right time for Tubbs and me yet, at least not in a year or so and it's pretty annoying when people ask me when it's our turn to get hitched and stuff. Come on, we pretty much just started working and settling down in Melbourne not long and we would prefer to enjoy the life of just the two of us (& Jasper) for the moment and going on to the next phase seems too soon because usually after marriages means pregnancy and huge responsibilities and I guess we are just not ready to go into that yet. Childish or not, for the moment we're enjoying the outings, buying new gadgets and going for trips etc. I think we will be ready when the time is right and when the finances are more stable.

Meantime, my latest new gadget: :p
Photobucket
God of War PSP Bundle: $299 from JB Hifi Mid Year Sale!

I have decided(unlike the Nintendo DS) I'm not going into the "dark side", meaning I'm not gonna play bootleg games on my PSP because you can't do system updates once you go the direction of using the loaded to load the Pirated ISO game files. Not that the system updates really matter that much, but just cause I prefer going out to look for games to buy and bring them home and also because the ISO files are super big - like 500MB to 1-2GB for each game, so downloads wil be pretty heavy on Internet quota too. Anyway I'ma loving my PSP; wireless Internet browsing, storing music, photos and videos all in one, plus there's even Skype on it! So it's just awesome!

Last night, darling, wangwei and I went to try out smoking with the ShiSha. It was the first time for Wangwei and I and so we were pretty amazed at how the thing worked. We actually went to look for Ying earlier at Taco Bill, but the place was packed. And so we decided to go for a "threesome" somewhere else.. and thus landed up with the ShiSha idea... heehee.. :p

A ShiSha or hookah (Hindi: हुक़्क़ा, Urdu: حقّہ, hukkah) is a single or multi-stemmed (often glass-based) water pipe for smoking. Originating in India, it has gained popularity, especially in the Arab World. A hookah operates by water filtration and indirect heat. It can be used for smoking herbal fruits. Source: Wikipedia.

We did a GPRS search and found the Sahara Cafe along Lygon Street in East Brunswick. Mind you the place looked a bit dodgy and it was $10 per entry (for the so-called Belly dancers) which we didn't get to see because we didn't stay late as the people there seemed to be getting more rowdy as the night went by. There were flavours like strawberry, apple, banana and a couple more I can't remember. We chose the Apple one and darling said it wasn't as harmful as a cigeratte and so he thought (I found it to be otherwise when I googled it the next day!). But anyway it was just an experience and I don't think I'll do it again because I couldn't stand the strong smell and somehow there is a scratchy feeling down your throat when you inhale it in.

I was feeling and looking super sleepy cause the smoke was really hitting in and darling was saying it's been a long time since we've been in a sort of "clubbing-like" atmosphere, which made me think about the clubbing days we had with my chabohs. :( Wangwei in the next pic trying to pose and show the smoke coming out from the pipe. *boliao* haha..

Other than that, life's pretty much the same(still learning new things everyday on the job and more courses up later part of the year), though darling and I wanted to go watch Wicked -The Musical, but tickets for the Emerald class are all sold out from now till Sep, so hard luck I suppose since we didn't think of booking earlier. Alright gotta go now, we are so lazy we are actually going on google to find a restaurant we can order food online and have it delivered to us!

Malaysia/Singapore Trip 2008, a sense of Nostalgia and more thoughts.

Just got back from my Malaysia/Singapore trip last Saturday. For the first time, it actually felt exceptionally good to be back. I've been missing my family and besties for too long. But as it was the usual two weeks holiday only, I had to squeeze as much time to meet up with those that matter. Although a couple of others I really wanted to meet couldn't make it cause we all had time constricts too since it around the Chinese new year period where everyone was busy.

And not forgetting I had to make time for my hairdressing, dentist and eyebrow embroidery appointments too. So here's a snapshot of those dearies I got to meet. Even if it was only for an hour or half hour, it was the fact that we got to at least see each other that mattered. People in the photo from top left clockwise: Joewiz, Len, Denise, Evon, Cousin Aiting, Nephew Desmond, Niece Felicia, Cousins Janice and Kristie, Beiwen, Susan, Sharon, Cindy, Shiguan, Ruiqi and Ailin.

*Full photos of trip available on Facebook ;)

Going back was a mix feeling of happiness, sadness and also nostalgia this time. I was happy to go back to my darlings Tubby and Jasper, but also sad that I only get to see the family and friends close to my heart only once a year. It probably got worse over the years because the amount of time they have been away from me got longer as the years went by. But I was really touched that my chabohs Len and Looloo drove all the way down from KL just to meet me over the weekend. It was short but sweet girls! MUAKS Also I really appreciate my other girlies who got together to meet up when I was back as well... You all know it, I love ya all!

Anyway I was chatting to Denise the other day, she could tell I seemed sad. My feelings of unhappiness were showing because life now is like hanging on tassels. Tubby just graduated last Dec and is now looking for a job around Melbourne. And once he gets one, I'll quit mine and join him a couple of months later. The waiting part is the most excruciating and so is the thought of having to find a new place to stay, looking for a new job, change of environments and stuff. And it doesn't help when Tubby's parents are causing troubles for us; like not liking the idea that we're staying together, and still treating him like their precious baby boy.

It's hard isn't it? A relationship can never be perfect right? When there are no problems with the couples themselves, the family members might be the one causing the conflicts. It's like the saying, "When you marry someone, you marry his whole family too". My parents talked to me about this matter and they warned me future problems. I'm also really vexed sometimes cause I'm not sure if I should give up this relationship just because of them, though I'm not too sure how long more I can take it. From the way his parents are behaving, they are not expecting him to settle down in the next few years; which is what our plans are. So this is a hurdle which seems almost impossible to jump over...

Best friends, good friends, whatever friends.

I was browsing photos that some of my best friends had on friendster / facebook and I've gotta admit there's a pang of jealousy whenever I see them having close and jovial shots with their friends back home. It made me realised that I was still stuck at that certain time frame and ever since they left Australia, I never allowed myself to open up or get really close to other new friends that I've gotta know over the couple of years here. Was it because I am not willing to let go of the happy memories I had with my bestest girls or was it because after they left, I felt that I can never really feel comfortable in the presence of new friends again.

I once spoke to Eileen before, she asked me if I had any best friend. Then I realised I was dumbfounded, I told her I had many best friends, I mentioned my chabohs, I mentioned my pooh gang and of course the bunch of secondary school besties. Then she told me, "But mel, how come you have so many best friends? I thought there should only be one best friend and many good friends?" I truly understood what she meant, but never thought of that until now. I realised I never did have 1 best friend at a point in time at all, it was always 2-3 good friends. You remember how when we were younger and we used to write in each other's autograph book? It was funny because I always had like a list of 4-5 Best Friends and 8-10 Good friends' column to fill up. There never was anyone in particular called "my best friend". Funny does it? I'm pretty sure that's not a very good thing because you can never boast to someone; This is a photo of me and my best friend and know that he/she will say the same about you too, just you.

Well I guess I wasn't fortunate enough to get just one best friend. And even so, maybe I shouldn't feel that pang of jealousy too since I myself have many best friends, so my best friends themselves probably have other other friends that they call besties too, I suppose. But it's still hard sometimes because time might move on and the environment might change, but those special and close to my heart never changes. Then again I realised I do have one best friend, he was always known as "Pal" to me, was always there to lend a listening ear, always there to lend me a shoulder to cry on. But it doesn't help that his GF thinks otherwise about that idea.

And it probably makes sense that my besties have the right to have fun and good times with their own besties back home too. And I'm like a few thousand kilometres away from them anyway. But still, photos tell it all sometimes and it bites sometimes, it really does.

The City Trip and sometimes, some things are better NOT left unsaid.

I've gotta say the City trip lifted up my spirits a little. But it didn't help much when last week an apparent good friend decided to team up with someone else in the badminton match without telling me earlier. I mean I would have been really cool if she just told me earlier cause I was waiting for her. Anyway I'm not fussed now, I've got other partners already, but the hurt is already there. And so Tennis and Badminton matches awaits, "Oh I so have to get the practice especially for tennis since it's my fav!"

Anyway here's some pics from the city trip:
Meatballs, Doghouse, Dogs Toy, Tool Kit from Ikea
Dog house for $9.95 only, what a bargain, tool kit, donkey from Shrek for Jasper, display shelf for my transformers and other nitty gritties. :P

Bedroom, Kitchen and Children's Room Decorations from Ikea
Lovely sample decos from Ikea. And no I wasn't supposed to take photos, but ssshhhhh... Those decos just make you wanna get your own house and start your own renovations and decorating. Tubbs was saying that he wants an Island kitchen counter facing the TV so he can enjoy himself while cooking. :D

Transformers Haul from City and Daniel
And lastly, my transformers hauls for that day. Most were thanks to Daniel who got them for me. This is only a fraction of what I have now.. heeheehee.. :P

Funnily enough, I DID NOT buy any clothing or makeup at all this time. Maybe cause there just wasn't enough time and also I guessed we were kinda broke after @^#%@$ asian groceries cost us a whopping $112 bucks! And till the next time, tata for now..

Different life in a different enviroment. I need a break!

Maybe when people start working, their life practically revolves all around work and that leaves no time left for anything else. Or in my case, life sometimes is so boring at where I'm staying that there honestly isn't much to update. When I read my besties's blogs, they get to meet up with friends after work, have dinner together, go for a drink or two, go shopping or clubbing. Those sounded so much like the days when I was working back in Singapore. Maybe it's the culture and the environment too. Maybe if I were working in the city, things might be different.

Anyway I was very temperamental and in a pissy mood last week. Everything seemed to annoy me, even some colleagues weren't spared and were replied with somewhat hostile tones. I think the main issue was about money, everything had to come at the same time and probably also the lack of a break. I mean, the last time we had an actual trip was to Geelong during April. And that was like what? 5 months ago? I can't take it anymore, I need to go off somewhere, even to Melbourne I'll be happy. And even then, it's been 5 freaking weeks since I went down to Melbourne. And all because I had no choice due to the money issue that I have to keep putting off the date to go down.

And so I'm not gonna freaking care anymore, this Friday it's down to the city I shall go, with tubby. Just the two of us, although we're gonna miss our fluffy bunny Jasper lots. Looking forward to the food we gonna have, shopping and also the exchange of my transformers toys with Daniel.

Apart from that, life is very routined and mundane for the moment. I can't wait for end year where I hope there's a turning point in life after tubby graduates. Even if there's not gonna be a big change, at least I can look forward to going back Malaysia for Chinese New Year. That's right, tickets booked and flight date is set. I shall set you "sweeties" an email nearer the date I'm going back.

Yet another dream of CTC and historical figures which intrigued me.

I did it again. Yesterday night I dreamt that CTC (Ex company I worked for in S'pore. You can read this post and this post for more info) have moved to factory sized premises and that I was back working with CK (My God Bro whom I always call Gege), Ian and another guy whom I can't recognize. We were sitting across each other at our desks when my lady boss called us out for some meeting, and we walked into something like a huge store area with all the other staff all sitting on work benches. Then Ms. Wee (lady boss) started talking and briefing us about the travel fair and stuff. It was damn funny and seemed so real again that when I woke up, I actually felt kinda disappointed it was just a dream.

In a perfect world, I would still like to be in my ex company and be situated here in Australia, Melbourne especially. No doubt, there were lots of OTs, stress and endless work to do, but it was so much fun! The travel fairs, the events and stuff, the special treatment by press and broadcasting network because we collaborated with them for events. I didn't need to sit and be bored at office all the time. We had heaps of people to meet(even TV actors and actresses), events to organize, travel fairs and road shows to prepare and set up. Best of all, I was happy. Isn't that one of the most important factor in work life? I just found out yesterday that they recently sponsored the Jay Chou's Secret movie premiere at Cathay. If only I were still working there, I'd more probably be able to get some special pass to go or something.

Anyway I should stop dwelling on the past. I myself chose this path right? So I should just make the best out of it, although I really really really miss my besties back home. Haven't got much updates. Will be heading down to Melbourne this weekend, so I'm hoping I get some luck with finding my bumble bee 08 camaro. The shelves here at Target, Big W and Kmart are still super pathetic. Even Kmart which I thought would re-stock on their sale today, still had the same usual old stuff they had for weeks. On another note, as some of you might know, I'm a history geek and I love to learn about the people and cultures of the past. Recently two figures caught my attention: Empress Tzu Hsi, last empress of China and Marie Antoinette, Last Queen of France. Been reading books and watching movies about them, the most recent was Marie Antoinette played by Kirsten Dunst. I have yet to find any movie about the past empress, so if you know any, do let me know. :)

It's still all about Transformers (Part 2) and some thoughts

Been sick the last couple of days. Well, there's nothing much to update lately. No outings, haven't been anywhere fun, haven't bought any new clothing or anything interesting. I'm still on the hunt for my Transformer Toys, especially the Bumblebee Camaro 2008 version. Darn it's really mind boggling. Yeah I know, "There are better things to do out there than to be mad about toys mel!" But it's something that I really like. :P And I'm sure everyone has something they are mad about, it's just that they haven't got there yet.

Anyway, this mad BB figure is going for around $70 to $100 on ebay. And the RRP is only $27! They are only out in certain areas of NSW and QLD. It's so unfair that VIC doesn't have it yet! I even asked Ying to check out Singapore and they were sold out as well! The shells of Kmart, Target and Big W have been empty for weeks and the blardy staff can be very in-cooperative in telling when they are gonna re-stock! But I managed to dig from one Kmart staff and got the answer. And Noo, I'm not telling you cause I don't want anyone snatching my Bumblebee (If there's any) from me. :O

So on my medical leave the last 2 days, I was on my Nintendo DS again (What else to do?), played heaps of different games on my R4 but have found none really addictive except for Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and Rayman Raving Rabbits. Then I also decided to open 2 of my most treasured Transformers Toys (Voyager Edition: Ironhide and Rachet pictured above) because my fingers couldn't take it anymore. Tubbs and Jason also had a go with the transforming and it took them quite awhile to get it right. Tubbs was so pissed off, he gave up! It was that complicated to transform them, esp. from robot back to vehicle mode. I also watched the DVD Marie Antoinette after reading the book. It was a good add-on to my history knowledge.

On another note, 2 of my chabohs can't make it for the Brissy trip this year end. Well I could also understand the difficulties what with the exchange rate and stuff. I was thinking of cancelling the trip, but Len still wants to go, so I reckon we will go ahead with it. The more the merrier no doubt, but I guess sometimes, not everything can go accordingly as planned. So no hard feelings my dear girls. :)

Disk Crash Depression, Winning a Tom Clancy Game Pack, Tubby's happening life back in SG and the weekend awaits.

Okay, I meant to update my blog last friday but I was too depressed to do so because just before I finished work last week, I found out that my external hard disk had crashed! :( Yes, all my photos, website stuff and God knows what other stuff's in it are currently "missing" or totally gone forever. All I know is that the hard disk gets detected, but the Used Space and Available Space is 0 Bytes and no files are displayed. I found out that it might be a disk partition problem, but I'm gonna wait for tubby to come back and settle it for me.

Meantime, no use crying over spilt milk. Anyway, on a happier note, I actually won a set of 4 "Tom Clancy's" game packs from the IT Meego Fund Campaign recently held on Gamespot. But the big joke is that the games not only belongs to a guy's genre, they are actually for xbox 360, which I don't own and will most probably not own. So I'm selling them on ebay.

And so, with tubby back in SG, there's no happenin stuff over here, except that I had gone swimming twice and went for my tennis lesson on a freezing cold and foggy Sunday. But it's great when your coach tells you that you are improving. *gleams* ;) Anyway, tubb's is having a more happening life back in SG. He's out everyday and last week he met up with my Pooh Gang. I was "oh-so-jealous" I couldn't be there. I could only talk to them through the phone as it was passed around the 4 of them. They had dinner in some newly opened restaurant which I can't remember where. Here's the pics anyway.

Yeah yeah, I'm lazy to edit the photos this time la, blame it on the "Hard Disk Crash" depression. On a different note, there was a little issue I wasn't too happy over the weekend, but decided to let it pass. Still I feel I can at least voice out at my blog. When any friend asks for a favour, Tubbs and I will usually say yes most of the time. But that doesn't mean it's right to assume it's okay to ask frequently, and especially at the last minute too. I mean, no offence but it's just not right to take things for granted sometimes.

Anyway, I'm glad tubby's returning this weekend! Otherwise I told him, I was getting insane talking to Jasper only everyday. Have booked a pet-friendly place to stay overnight so we can make it for that "long awaited" wedding fair! Yeah, I hope that it's gonna be interesting and there are no pushy exhibitors who try and get us down to anything there and then. Also I thought maybe instead of shopping too much this time, I wanna make a trip to the Museum too. We'll see how it goes. Till then, have a great week all! :)

Shoppaholic Updates, S.H.E "Play" Album Arrival and More Ramblings.

Len the "paikuat" keeps bugging me to update, but honestly I have nothing to update! I've been bumming around during the long weekend (Monday was off day due to the Queen's birthday) and all I did was grocery shoppin, listing my items for sale online, gaming and more gaming, plus a bit of reading. Still, I decided to find something to update and also did my Shoppaholic blog, but I didn't put my Ipod shuffle there, I wrote about it here, so if you're interested by all means, click.

S.H.E Play
And sooo, my long awaited S.H.E "Play" album, photobook and concert badges are finally here. I've gotta admit the delivery took some time, but YesAsia does have a lot of fascinating items. You can get CDs, DVDs, Games and Books in Mandarin, Korean and Japanese and you can even get items in it's original versions from the countries they hail from. They deliver free worldwide, provided you buy over US$30. So the only down part is that prices are in USD, thus it's a little pinch to the skin when you shop there. But there's no harm in just taking a look.

Anyway, I also decided to upload some recent photos of Jasper. It's been sometime since our "baobei" has been out of the limelight. He hasn't had any grooming since last year and we do the nail-cutting ourselves. The poor guy has his eyes covered whenever his fur grows too long. And Tubbs decided to use him to de-stress(how mean I know), he grab abit of fur from both sides of the ears and trim it and so I decided to trim his whole body as well, though he looks abit "gong" now, but still cute right? :D

So the next few weeks will continue to be mundane for me. Ying's back in S'pore and Tubbs is also flying back this weekend. He promised me to be back by Sat 1 Jul so that we can make it for the Wedding Fair in Melbourne. Eileen, Dom and the others are going on a trip to Brisbane/Gold Coast, so it's just gonna be me and Jasper most of the time. Ah well, it isn't that bad, just more time for myself and Jasper. Though now, I'm doing some research on Mornington Peninsula, where the Hot Springs I was talking about in my last post, is. I requested a brochure from them and have yet to look through. Now that it's confirmed about the date Tubbs will be back, I can go ahead and plan the trip. It should be in early July, and Dom, Ying, Eileen you 3 are welcome to come along. Just let me know if you're interested okay? Till next time... tata..

Current weekly schedule, awaiting next getaway and I got tagged.

After the last dinner at Helens' and Michaels', I don't think there will be any happenings for awhile. So my current weekly schedule is 3 days gym, 1 night tennis lesson and the rest of the time digging into my books or gaming. I used to be a bookworm since small and then when the teenage years and early 20s' era came, the interest was lost since gettin caught in the BGR thingys, clubbin and stuff, you know.

But then late last year I decided to pick up a book again and never stopped since. If you're in for a read, I'd recommend books by Adeline Yen Mah, Anchee Min and Julia Quinn. As for my gaming, if you're a tad interested at all, you can view my gamer's profile at Gamespot. In short, I'm on my Nintendo DS and PS2 now, thinking about the Wii or PSP next. Yeah that's a "Want" and not a "Need", so I'm still waiting. But first I wanna get the Homebrewed Memory Card for the DS.

So everyone around me now is stressed with exams and assignments and I really can't wait for them to end so everyone can relax again. And I'm looking forward to go for another short trip either to the Peninsula Hotsprings or Sydney before or after Tubbs come back. He will be going back to S'pore for 2-3 weeks after exams. So if any of you wanna meet up with him, just make a trip down to S'pore during the weekend or something. Meantime, please do continue to support the Cosmic Reviews website. New reviews are posted every week. And I also decided to do a Tag, since I got tagged by a friend.

I've been Tagged and so are You!

This is what you are supposed to do. Cut and paste if you decide to participate in the tagging game. Each player of this game starts off by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog.

1. I like to bite Jasper, especially his chubby paws when we're playin, lightly and for fun only of course. :p
2. I can start singing anywhere when I'm in the mood, in the shower, in the car and even in the office.
3. I have gone to Google before and type "I'm bored" in the search bar.
4. I like to take out fishballs from hot soup and put them in the saucer with soysauce to cool down.
5. I like to bend my index and middle fingers and push my nose upwards when it's itchy.
6. I like to pull the hairs on tubby's chin when it's too long and he doesn't shave.
